A Glimpse into Engler Block's History
photo: shopping
Craftsmen demonstrate daily at the Engler Block.

Nearly 15 years ago, renowned woodcarver Peter Engler proposed an idea to Mid and Evelyn Harris to convert their large one-story warehouse on Highway 76 into a charming, upscale craft shopping mall. It would have store-like facades and nooks and crannies in which craftspeople could be seen at work and visit with customers. There would be musicians and food facilities and other innovations to make a visit there an experience while shopping for quality jewelry, stained glass art, homemade candles, wooden furniture and paintings.

His idea became a reality when The Engler Block opened in 1987. Today it is a one-of-a-kind shopping experience where the country's best craftsmen and artists collaborate under one roof in a climate controlled shopping mall. You may see artist in residence Steve Haldaman painting a portrait, or silversmith Ernest Pino creating a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry, or craftsman Greg Vidito creating a leather belt or wallet, and much more!

The moment you walk in the door the experience begins. The fragrance of fresh brewed latte or cappuccino, homemade cobbler and fresh kettle corn fills the air. There's something for everyone from watching their creative local artists to their unique shops. Enjoy great food, music and some of the most creative craftsmen and artists in the area.

Demonstrating craftsmen and artists create the items they sell. Where else can you purchase an item made especially for you? Plus, specialty upscale shops offer unique and usual gifts and souvenirs. Come see why Engler Block has become a Branson tradition.

Admission is free to the Engler Block, so bring the entire family and spend the day at Branson's most unique shopping destination!
