Celebration City...America's Newest Theme Park
photo: attractions
Celebration City is Branson's newest theme park.

The top events and entertainment of the 20th Century provide the setting for fun at Silver Dollar City's new night-time theme park, Celebration City. The new $40 million theme park, designed to be the "night" place for families, is America's newest theme park and the largest new park development to open in 2003 in North America. Celebration City features 30 themed rides, attractions and activities, including the all-new wooden roller coaster, Ozark WildCat.

The entrance portal into the 20th Century is Celebration Street, an area full of the vibrant activity of the early 1900s, with water sculptures and fountains from the elegant Victorian era that dance to music, and a vintage-style carousel. The Electric Boardwalk, with a boardwalk park atmosphere harking to the colorful days of trolley parks, features amusement rides, games and arcade adventure; and historic Route 66 celebrates the 1950s and '60s era of shiny automobiles and drive-in diners with themed rides, shops and restaurants.

In the Route 66 area, the new coaster Ozark WildCat celebrates America's love for wooden roller coasters. Ozark WildCat is an ultra-compact, classic twisting wooden coaster that will reach speeds of 45 miles per hour and drop eight stories. It has a one-of-a-kind 310-degree spiraling double-down first drop, a high speed swoop turn with a rabbit hop midway and a screaming finale.

Ozark WildCat is one of 30 rides and attractions at Celebration City. Additional thrill rides include The Accelorator, a tower ride which launches riders 80 feet before plunging them back down with back-to-back positive and negative G-forces; Fireball, which swings and spins riders over 60 feet in the air; and the Electric Star Wheel, a 95-foot high classic Ferris Wheel.

One of the most outstanding features will be a spectacular nightly outdoor, multi-media laser production show "Celebrate!", which is being custom designed for Celebration City and will take guests through time travel of the 20th Century with dramatic effects, lasers, a massive water screen, projections and fireworks, all set to vibrant music. Watch the highlights of the century unfold through high-tech special effects, including VJ-Day parades, man's first steps on the moon, rock 'n roll, disco and the computer age. This multi-million dollar production is the "nightcapper" event culminating the day's fun and will be featured prior to park closing each evening.

Celebration City is open Wednesdays through Sundays, 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., May 1-22. From May 23 to Aug. 17, Celebration City is open daily, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
