the ART

National Portrait Gallery:
6 Feb-26 May. Julia Margaret Cameron: 19th Century Photographer of Genius. This photographic pioneer is credited with the 'world's first close-up,' mastering headshots of friends, family and passers by from Charles Darwin to Robert Browning. The exhibition features 120 works from Europe and the US and focuses on portraits and fancy-dress tableaux.

the THEATRE

Stones in his Pockets:
This charming, low-tech comedy examines what happens when a Hollywood film company descends on a small village in a remote part of Ireland to film a big-budget blockbuster. On a virtually bare stage, two actors play 17 characters between them, including the film's female star. A must - see play, worth it for the hil`arious Riverdance scene alone. What theatre's all about!

the RESTAURANTS

This friendly Bangkok-based restaurant is a refreshingly modern place to eat. The interior is amazing with a beautifully polished concrete floor, high ceiling and widely spaced tables. Order the fresh mango juice to go with the delicious offerings and the wonderful Thai Singha beer.

the NIGHTLIFE

Recently voted London's Best Bar by Time Out and the Evening Standard, the Rockwell is an inventive and successful concept. Located at the Trafalgar Hilton in the heart of central London, this is the city's first bourbon bar. With 100 of the finest premium bourbons from the USA, an extensive cocktail repertoire and vintage champagne by the glass, guests here are in for a unique drinking experience

The store has boasts the largest women's sports clothing and footwear area in Europe, with lots of knowledgeable staff on hand to help. Try the latest Shox range!

the SIGHTS

Westminster Abbey:
An architectural masterpiece, first consecrated in 1065 as the Norman church built for Edward the Confessor, with subsequent bits added by Henry III in the 13th century, Henry VII in 1503 and, finally, Hawksmoor in 1745. The Abbey has long been linked to Royalty: every king and queen of England (bar two) has been crowned here since William the Conqueror in 1066.
